Goldstein & Co. places three structures, each grounded in the Internal Revenue Code, that defer tax on a windfall: §453 Structured Installment Sales for sellers of businesses and appreciated real estate; §104 Structured Settlements for plaintiffs with personal-injury or wrongful-death recoveries; and Childs-validated Structured Attorney Fee deferrals for contingency-fee lawyers. California-based, highly rated life insurers (A or better by A.M. Best or equivalent) only, no deferred sales trusts and no monetized installment sales.
